The new Renault Captur compact crossover

The first images and design information on the Renault Captur, the new crossover model based on the Clio platform that translates the brand’s current design DNA to the compact SUV segment.

The Renault Captur is based on the same platform as New Clio, with which it also shares the range of engines, which include gasoline and diesel units focused on reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

The Captur will be manufactured at Renault’s Valladolid plant in Spain and will be unveiled at the forthcoming Geneva Motor Show in March.

Exterior Design

Defined by Renault as “the next step in Renault’s design offensive under the leadership of Laurens van den Acker”, the Captur uses the current aesthetic language made of smooth, fluid, and balanced forms.

The vehicle look aims at conveying an assertive and dynamic yet unaggressive and unostentatious personality.
Like on the New Clio, the body surfaces do not incorporate the angular lines and sharp creases so common in today’s cars.

The sculptural qualities are expressed through smoothly curved surfaces – a philosophy that was first introduced with the Dezir Concept (2010) and that takes inspiration from liquids in nature.

This surfacing approach is combined with a number of elements that underline the robust, SUV nature of the car: among these are the raised ground clearance, large-diameter wheels and the distinctive sill guards, that hint at the Captur Concept unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

In side view, the dynamic stance is emphasized by the descending roofline and by the forward position of the steeply-raked windscreen.

A distinctive styling element is the possibility of customizing the exterior with an two- tone color scheme which produces a contrast between the roof and pillars and the rest of the body work.

Interior Design

Despite the compact footprint (length: 4m12), the Captur offers a spacious interior, also thanks to the the forward position of its windscreen.
The cabin was designed to be colorful, warm and relaxing, and offers a number of customization solutions in terms of choice of colors and motifs for the different trim features.

All this is combined with the typical versatile qualities of MPVs, from the high-up driving position, to the generous loading capacity, the modular interior layout and an array of stowage solutions.
Among the available options is the new, connected, in-dash Renault R-Link touchscreen multimedia tablet, combines with a six loudspeakers hi-fi system.
