Hartge Adds Nearly 100 Horsepower To The M5
The new BMW M5 has seen tons of upgrade packages in its relatively short life, and today we bring you a new one. It comes from the Beckingen-based BMW tuning specialist Hartge, which has developed a few options for the current BMW M5, including power upgrade to 642 horsepower.
In its standard version the M5 gets a 4.4-liter V-8 engine that delivers a stout 560 horsepower at 6,000 to 7,000 rpm and a peak torque of 502 pound-feet from as low as 1,500 rpm. Hartge managed to increase this output to a total of 642 horsepower and 597 pound-feet of torque. As a result the M5 will now sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.2 seconds, while top speed has now been increased to 302 km/h (187 mph).
Along with this impressive engine upgrade, the tuner is also offering a sport spring kit, which lowers the M5 by 25 mm (0.98 inches) at the front and 20 mm (0.78 inches)at the rear), and a new aerodynamic package that includes a rear silencer, front spoiler and a carbon-fiber mirror casings. The tuner is also offering a set of 21-inch alloy wheels. For the interior, the tuner offers up velour floor mats and an aluminum pedal set.
