Acura NSX Concept gets updated

At the 2013 Detroit Motor Show Honda Motors has unveiled an evolved version of the Acura NSX Concept, closer to production and showing a possible design direction for the interior.

First revealed at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show, the new-generation Acura/Honda NSX is moving towards production and the latest stage of the design debuted at the NAIAS in Detroit this week.

The 2013 show-car features a slightly different exterior, with the main differences in the rear end surface treatment of the lower section and in the front grille trim.

The most distinctive feature of this concept is however the fullly developed interior – the previous prototypes were hard models with no cabin.

The atmosphere is characterized by the strong and warm contrast between the red tones of the leather and upholstery and the black surfaces of the dashboard and the carbon fiber trims.

The color scheme is enhanced by satin aluminum details, that along with the polished surfaces of the carbon fiber surfaces help lighten the whole.

The design was developed under the concept of a “Human Support Cockpit” and this driver-focused character is underlined by the dominant center tunnel, which integrates a large touch screen.

As already reported, the NSX Concept is equipped with the SPORT HYBRID SH-AWD® (Super Handling – All Wheel Drive™) hybrid system, featuring a mid-mounted direct-injected VTEC V6 engine and two electric motors that drive both front wheels independently.
